Community Foundation is proud to invite you to 2014 Philanthropy Learning Exchange events. These events are dedicated to donors, donor advisors, and members of our Legacy Society, those who have notified us of their intention to make a planned gift to support local philanthropy in Tompkins County.

Planning A Charitable Retirement: Leave a Legacy While Living Well

Some famous quotes along this line are: “A successful person dies broke”; “There are no pockets in a shroud”, and “You can’t take it with you”. However, all of nature, human included, has security, survival and protection of offspring as a base instinct.

Thus, there is inherent conflict between these two statements.

Please join us to learn some tried and true practices and ideas that mitigate this conflict and, in fact, marry these two ideas into a plan of living well while doing good

Chip Bryce has served as director of Cornell’s Office of Trusts, Estates, and Gift Planning since 1997. Previously, he was a planned giving officer and director of the university’s Program in Real Estate. He now oversees more than $100 million in gift transactions each year.

Justine Guariglia joined Cornell’s Office of Trusts, Estates, and Gift Planning in July 2010 and was promoted in 2013 to senior gift planning officer. Previously she worked in the financial services industry at Credit Suisse and Bernstein (now Bernstein Global Wealth Management) in New York City and assisted individuals, families, and private foundations in developing comprehensive investment plans.

Light refreshments will be served.

This is a no fee, no obligation event. Representing any grant seeking organization or soliciting for any gifts, grants or businesses is expressly prohibited at this event.
