Is there someone you know who has made a lasting difference in the lives of other women living in Tompkins County?

Is there a volunteer at your work, business, school or organization who you’d like to thank for sharing their time, talent, and treasures?

We want to help you recognize that person!

Established in 2006 by Anna Holmberg in remembrance of her mother, the Laura Holmberg Award recognizes the “unsung heroes” in our community: those whose contribution impacts the Women’s Fund’s core mission, focusing on women and girls, and who have done so in an unpaid capacity. That is, the work has not been part of the person’s professional role. Consider the award a Lifetime Achievement in volunteering.

GOALS:

To promote educational, economic, social and political equality for women

To enable women to achieve economic self-sufficiency

To insure that women have necessary healthcare resources

Community Foundation’s Women’s Fund is currently seeking letters of nomination for the 2020 Laura Holmberg Award. Holmberg, a local attorney and community activist, passed away in 2004. Eligible applicants are those women who embody the goals of the Women’s Fund by virtue of a body of volunteer work. The award seeks to recognize unsung heroines who are doing things outside of their career on a volunteer basis for women and our community.

Please submit nominations no later than September 6th.
