Philanthropic Resources to consider for your response to the Buffalo racial terrorism shootings

The following is information from NY Funders Alliance in which maintain membership.

In the wake of the tragic events in Buffalo on May 14, several Western New York funders took swift action and formed The Buffalo Together Community Response Fund. The fund has received commitments of over $3 million so far and will distribute funds to support Black-led organizations on the frontlines of addressing immediate needs in the WNY community, long-term community rebuilding, and systemic issues that have marginalized communities of color.

There are also several Black-led organizations doing tremendous and critical work in the community including but not limited to:

Open Buffalo

Feed Buffalo

Black Love Resists in the Rust

African Heritage Food Co-op

Colored Girls Bike Too

Urban Fruits and Veggies

Buffalo Go Green

Rooted in Love

Heart of the City Neighborhoods

The genesis of NY Funders Alliance was rooted in the desire to foster a network of colleagues and partners working to promote vibrant communities across our state where all neighbors can live and thrive. Racism, hate, and intolerance have no place in our communities and we are continually proud of the work our members do daily to combat these attitudes while championing partnerships and initiatives that promote mutual understanding, acceptance, empathy, and inclusion.
