Community Foundation Announces Steph Bailey as New Chief Development Officer and Celebrates Nancy Massicci’s Retirement as Long-Serving Leader

Community Foundation of Tompkins County is pleased to announce the appointment of Steph Bailey as our new Chief Development Officer, while also celebrating the retirement of Nancy Massicci, who concludes an extraordinary 11-year tenure with the foundation. Bailey will begin February 9 and Massicci will retire on April 30 creating an overlap for training and continuity.

Bailey brings more than 15 years of experience in philanthropy, fundraising, and nonprofit leadership for a variety of roles at Centralus Health, the Tompkins Chamber, Family & Children’s Service, and Hospicare. In this role, she will lead the foundation’s development strategy, donor engagement, and philanthropic partnerships, building on a strong culture of generosity and community engagement.

At the same time, the foundation honors the legacy of Nancy Massicci who is retiring after 11 years of dedicated service. During her tenure, Nancy played a pivotal role in strengthening donor relationships, growing charitable assets, and advancing initiatives that have had a lasting impact across the community.

“Nancy’s accomplishments and relationships have shaped who we are today,” said Ferrari. “Her commitment to our mission and her ability to connect people with purpose has left an enduring mark on our foundation and the community we serve.”

Reflecting on the transition, Massicci said, “It has been a privilege to work alongside such dedicated colleagues, donors, and community partners. I am incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished together and confident that the foundation is well positioned for continued success under new leadership.”

Bailey added, “I am deeply honored to join Community Foundation and build on the strong achievements that Nancy, George, and the staff and board of directors have created. I look forward to working with donors and partners to support meaningful, lasting change in our community.”
